Position Summary

The Project Planner plays a critical role in supporting the successful execution of complex engineered solution projects within the Power Systems Business Engineering & Execution APAC (SPT) organization.

Working closely with Project Managers, engineering teams, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders, the Project Planner is responsible for end-to-end project planning, scheduling, resource coordination, progress tracking, and risk identification. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual and technical requirements.

The position reports to the Vice President, PSB Engineering & Execution APAC, and works across multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced and execution-focused environment.


What you will be doing:

Project Planning and Control

  • Work closely with Project Managers to support the successful execution of assigned projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules covering all phases of execution.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of full project scope, milestones, deliverables, and dependencies.
  • Actively track project progress against baseline plans and highlight deviations early.
  • Identify potential schedule, resource, or execution risks and proactively escalate to the Project Manager for evaluation and mitigation.

Resource Coordination and Portfolio Planning

  • Define resource requirements in collaboration with engineering, quality, and execution teams.
  • Coordinate and balance resources across multiple projects to avoid conflicts and bottlenecks.
  • Support mitigation of resource constraints by engaging key stakeholders and aligning priorities.
  • Ensure optimal allocation of internal and external resources across the project portfolio.

Supplier and Stakeholder Management

  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with local suppliers, particularly for Balance of Plant (BOP) scope.
  • Track supplier progress against agreed schedules and expedite activities where required.
  • Lead progress tracking with suppliers and follow up on open actions to closure.
  • Minute project progress meetings and supplier meetings, ensuring clear documentation and action tracking.

Execution Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor task dependencies to ensure smooth and coordinated project execution.
  • Track punch lists and ensure responsible stakeholders’ close actions within agreed timelines.
  • Support Project Managers with internal reporting on schedule, progress, risks, and key issues.
  • Track project cost-related information in support of ensuring projects remain within budget.

Documentation and Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain clear, accurate, and retrievable documentation of all project activities in shared systems and folders.
  • Ensure planning data and execution records are kept up to date and audit ready.
  • Stay current with project management best practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Support special assignments and improvement initiatives as required.

Travel and Other Responsibilities

  • Travel overseas for business purposes when required.
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned in support of business needs.

Position requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or a related discipline.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project management and execution within an engineered solution, industrial, or infrastructure environment.
  • Experience in the diesel engine, generator, or power systems industry is a strong advantage.
  • Demonstrated track record of supporting projects delivered on schedule, within budget, and to specification.

Technical and Functional Skills

  • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, and execution methodologies.
  • Proficiency in project management and planning software.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.

Behavioral Capabilities

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Effective team players with the ability to work across functions and cultures.
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural APAC environment with awareness of regional business practices.
  • Accountable, resilient, and able to manage workload peaks and competing priorities.

Certifications and Language

  • Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
