Job Title: Supply Chain Planner – Submarines

Working Pattern: Full -Time / Hybrid

Working location: Derby

We have an exciting opportunity for a Supply chain planner to join our Rolls-Royce team in Derby.

The Supply Chain Planner will be responsible for delivery of your defined portfolio acting as a single point of contact, driving on time delivery through effective planning whilst maintaining the ERP and supporting systems Within your team you will identify, prioritise, mitigate and resolve delivery issues.

What you will be doing:

Compliance with the planning cycle, to produce a credible plan to meet customer demands including inventory, logistics and storage considerations
Ensure pre-production activities are undertaken to ensure the system is maintained with robust credible data that creates suitable supply plans, taking actions to rectify inaccuracies
Work with your supply chain to manage their orderbook/project plans and make balanced decisions to ensure business priorities are supported to best satisfy customer demands
Have a working knowledge of the load and capacity factors that could potentially affect the ability of the supply chain to deliver against plan and offer mitigations
Awareness of inventory logistics implications across the value stream and optimise inventory, whilst minimising customer delivery risk/costs
Ensure robust answers are given to any Sales and Operation Planning questions through the Demands Management process
To carry out and input to required business and operational reviews to understand capability to deliver to demand requirements, to define and manage actions to mitigate risks and issues
To operate to the relevant policies and procedures as defined and comply with RRMS

Position Qualifications:

To be successful in this role you will need to have:
Educated to degree level or relevant professional qualification (e g APICS)
Experience of supply chain planning & control is essential
Understanding and experience of managing load & capacity
Demonstrated ability to manage deliveries and make balanced business decisions under challenging circumstances
Understanding of different roles functions processes (e g Manufacturing, Purchase, NPI, Quality)
Able to take responsibility for their own development
Working knowledge of, and experience with MRP and/or ERP systems
Has the ability to influence others

Core Functional Skills:

Planning – The ability to understand why, and how the business forecasts, plans and manages work using planning tools, to support customer requirements
Execution – To have an understanding of the roles, responsibilities, constraints and processes which enables the business to enact planning decisions
Compliance – The ability to understand how the business uses compliance via policies, procedures and systems and the implications of non-compliance on the business
Inventory – To understand what inventory is, the implications of too much/too little inventory, potential causes and mitigations To have the ability to identify inventory using executive systems and tools
Operations – To have an understanding of business operational challenges, constraints and inter-dependencies on processes relating to your role. An appreciation of the critical nature of operational requirements and timely resolution of issues

For more than 60 years Rolls-Royce Submarines has designed, supplied and supported the nuclear propulsion plant, providing power for all UK Royal Navy nuclear submarines.
